It started with our founder, Prescilla Moodley, doing volunteer work at St Martins CYCC in Oribi Flats for Africa Sport International, an UK based charity organisation, in December 2014.
Visiting the center made her realize the children needed more than a safe place to stay. Also needing care and love, a home away from home, people to share love and kindness and making them feel special like any child should feel, no matter what they have been through...
She spoke to some friends that share the same passion to help others and the Butterfly Foundation was born.
Our aim is to assist underprivileged children and senior citizens to live a happy and dignified life.
Our motto is "Hands to Serve and Hearts to Love"
We assisted Inathi with spoiling the children (60) with social activities, education programs, sustainability and upgrading the premises. Although it’s a government subsidized center, funds are not enough to give the children a party. Our aim is to give the children hope for their futures, put a smile on their faces and some happiness.
This is a center for adults and elderly, with mental and physically challenged (58) citizens. We assist by networking for sponsorship and donations as the center is not subsidized and require a huge amount of assistance. We visit the center regularly spending quality time by caring , making them feel loved and just to let them know that they are not forgotten.
We will be leasing this premises from SANTA (Dunstan Farrell Hospital) in Hibberdene to open our Care Center (BACC) for underprivileged seniors citizens. Our collaboration with SANTA would assist us with our mission to serve our community. The Care Center will be for our people from 18 years plus with physical and mental health challenges.
Please have a look at SANTA's website at www.santa.org.za
We appeal to the public for assistance with donations and sponsorship to enable us to open the center. Kindly assist with paint, furniture, beds, mattress, linen, pillows, towels curtains or any other of donation would be appreciated. Our center is near a very poor community in Umzumbe. Once the center opens we will be assisting with jobs to uplift the community.
WE ARE RELIANT ON YOU TO HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
We host an event monthly at the Marburg Library covering Diabetes, nutrition, medications, wellness support and Life Awareness subjects such Human Rights, drugs, wills etc.
This project is mainly directed to our seniors
citizens, as a lot them are suffering with diabetes and related health problems.
We supply them with healthy snacks or a meal if the meal is sponsored for lunch. This is like a social or outing opportunity for our senior citizens as most of them do not go anywhere during the week or month.
We have also decided to form a support group addressing various issues e.g.; drugs with family members and how to cope with grievance.
We are located here:
House 22, Lot 31
Victory Road, Marburg
Port Shepstone
